At Visible Fictions, we are excited to share the progress we've made on our journey towards achieving the LGBT Youth Scotland Bronze Charter.

Over the past year, we’ve worked closely with LGBT Youth Scotland (@lgbtys) to ensure our organisation is a more inclusive, welcoming, and safe space for everyone. And we’re thrilled to announce that our certificate has officially arrived!

As part of our commitment, we’ve engaged in consultations with freelancers and past collaborators to gather valuable feedback on how we can improve our inclusivity. We believe in the power of open dialogue and continuous learning to shape a better environment, both within our workplace, when we’re out working in venues and across our many internet platforms.

Our team has participated in LGBT Awareness Training and taken part in insightful workshops, learning how to be more inclusive, respectful, and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, we’ve made important updates to our practices, such as introducing ourselves with pronouns and ensuring that we address families without assumptions. We’re also mindful of using inclusive language in our social media posts and materials.

This is just the beginning, and we look forward to continuing our journey with LGBT Youth Scotland. We’ll be using resources like the LGBTQ+ Cultural Calendar to highlight key events, such as Pride parades and LGBT History Month, on our social channels.

Here’s what some of the VF team members said about the training from LGBT Youth Scotland:

Eye-opening and excellently put together training – the input from young people, the real-life views and scenarios, made it powerful and informative.”

“Completing the Bronze charter with LBGT Youth Scotland has been a deeply useful and enlightening process. It has allowed us to interrogate our way of working and implement meaningful practice to support underrepresented groups in our workforce and for our audiences. The support given by the LGBTYouth team was great and the training provided was clear and informative.”

“The training we received was so clear, straightforward and empowering. It’s enabled me to feel much more confident in the making of our work, and to collaborate with intentionality, clarity and articulacy.”

We believe that creativity and people thrive in safe, judgment-free environments, and we’re dedicated to making Visible Fictions a space where everyone can feel heard, respected, and supported. We invite you to be part of this journey—share your thoughts with us anytime, and let’s continue to grow together! 🏳️‍🌈 Stay tuned for more updates, and check out these useful resources:
